"1. Google touts having enterprise level customers but how many “USERS” of their applications truly exist within the enterprise?

Does this matter? There are a lot of private users on Google Apps for sure, but there are quite a few large companies (with 10.000+ users) using Google Apps - and they are happy with it! How many enterprise users can say the same about Microsoft Windows and Office in the enterprise?"

Well I think you have that exactly right "a few large companies (with >>>10

@Johan, I agree that Google has a way to go, but it's comparing apples with pears here.

I have three problems with Office: incompatibility (even between different version of Office!), it's cluttered and it lacks any proper formatting/designing tools like InDesign does.

So, for basic textprocessing (and spreadsheets) Google is (at least for me) the way to go. If I need something special, I grab InDesign or Pages for that.

The problem with this kind of thing is that people get used to Office (like the get used to Windows). Even if the thing they got used to is bad, the won't switch to something different or better, because the 'know' their tool and are attached to it. In a way people who use Office very heavily are becoming blind to the alternatives.

But of course, using office or google apps will always be a compromise between the two.

I think that anyone who has ever tried to switch completely from MS office to Google Apps will agree with me that Google has a long way to go.

After trying to get used to Google Apps for two weeks I was delighted to switch back to MS office.

Maybe one day Google Apps will be a true competitor for MS office, but for now I can just feel sorry for the poor souls who are forced by their Google loving bosses to use a product that is far from ready to be used in a business environment.
